ESB Governance of DER Standards

In January, CutlerMerz were engaged by the Energy Security Board / Australian Energy Market Commission to undertake a review of the governance of distributed energy resources (DER) technical standards across Australia. Given our insight into the unique challenges that the industry faces on DER implementation, our experts are undertaking research and stakeholder consultation on the current structures and processes for the development, update, enforcement and compliance of DER technical standards. Our findings will be presented to the Coalition of Australian Governments Energy Council to consider in the first quarter of 2020.

This work is in alignment with the Energy Security Board’s role to coordinate the implementation of Finkel's reform blueprint and form a key component of their DER Integration Workplan.

Outcomes developed by CutlerMerz in achieving these objectives are expected to ultimately lead to delivering benefits from DER for all energy system users.
